QUEEN'S PLANS FOR THE NEXT ACADEMIC YEAR

Professor Ian Greer, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University, has unveiled the Queen’s campus commitment to let returning and prospective students know how we plan to welcome them this September.
As the University makes preparations for this autumn, Queen’s campus commitment aims to provide clarity and reassurance in detailing how we plan to welcome students in the next academic year, while ensuring student safety.
With advice for new/returning international students and new/returning NI/EU/GB students the commitment covers:
- Campus experience
- Hygiene measures
- Flexible teaching
- Accommodation
- Student life
- Help and support
Through enhanced hygiene measures, flexible live teaching, access to safe accommodation and with measures to create an authentic campus experience and an active student life, Queen’s is creating a safe and hygienic campus which provides a warm welcome and world-renowned teaching facilities for the next cohort of students.
“We’re adapting our libraries, student spaces, cafes, sports centres and social hubs in line with social distancing guidelines,” said Professor Greer on the new University web pages, “so you can still enjoy the experiences of campus life.
“We are mindful that in coming to Queen’s you will want to meet new people from different backgrounds and have the opportunity to develop a range of skills.
“We are confident that you will have a memorable and meaningful student experience, even within the context of the challenges we are all facing due to COVID-19,” he added.
As Queen’s continues to provide a world-class university experience in a safe campus environment, accommodation will be available with all applicable safety measures to ensure students receive an authentic experience.
There is a dedicated online hub for offer-holders which is being updated regularly with relevant information and resources, while online postgraduate events provide the chance to connect with current students, academics and Queen’s staff. And to help with financial worries, there are a number of scholarships available for students at Queen’s. A Queen’s Family Scholarship for instance, offers a 20% reduction on first year gross tuition fees. Available exclusively to students who have been assessed as paying International tuition fee rates who are the children or siblings of Queen’s alumni or current Queen's University Belfast students beginning a full duration eligible postgraduate programme at the Queen’s in the next academic year (2020-21). Graduates are being asked to help through advocacy in sharing this message of how we will approach the next academic year with prospective students, and their parents.
