Graduate Angela Canavan appointed MD, Civica Digital Solutions Ireland

A Queen’s 1989 BSc Computer Science graduate, Angela Canavan, has been appointed Managing Director for the Civica Digital Solutions Ireland team.

Ms Canavan developed her experience in the ICT sector with a number of management roles in companies including Queen’s spin-out Kainos and with BT and Fujitsu.

In the Northern Ireland public sector, Civica Digital Solutions Ireland is a strategic technology provider with solutions helping automate crucial services for the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) and deliver the next generation of citizen services for NI Direct with BT.

Civica’s strength in these markets follows their acquisition of Asidua, a software consultancy and services group, in November 2014. Before her most recent appointment, Ms Canavan was part of the Management Buy Out team which formed Asidua in October 2002, subsequently becoming Asidua’s Chief Operations Officer.

Ms Canavan took up her new role in November 2015, succeeding fellow Queen’s graduate Dr Steve Brankin (BSc Electrical Engineering 1983), who had led Asidua since 2002 when it was set up.

Commenting on her new position, she said: “I am delighted to undertake the role of Managing Director for Civica Digital Solutions Ireland and would like to thank Steve for his dedication, assistance and friendship since Asidua was formed in 2002.
