KICK-START YOUR CAREER WITH KPMG's

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME

Professor David Jones, Student of the Year 2021 Yi Kang Choo and Ian Moore in cloisters at Queen's

13 May 2022

Students currently considering their university options can avail of a fantastic opportunity working alongside one of the largest accounting companies in the world.

Applications are now open for KPMG’s 2022 Queen’s Scholarship programme, offering students the opportunity to kick-start their career with the practical work experience and financial support package that the scholarship offers.

Two successful students starting courses within the Management School at Queen’s this September will benefit greatly from access to a KPMG Business Mentor, a laptop provided by KPMG and a £3000 per year living allowance.

The scholarship also provides vital experience through a paid summer internship programme, where successful applicants will work with KPMG in Belfast following their first and second years of study. Students can also begin to further their career with KPMG from their first year, with the programme’s FastTrack route giving them a great chance of getting an offer of a graduate position.

“Applying for the scholarship was one of the best decisions I have ever made,” said Philip Hamill, currently in his second year of the KPMG/QUB Scholarship.

“While the experience gained from the selection process was invaluable, being awarded the scholarship has not only opened up doors for me in the future but reminds me that people have invested in seeing me succeed, giving me the drive to perform at my highest ability, not only at university but in all facets of life.”

Oliwia Osmanowska – currently in her second year of an Accounting with French degree at Queen’s – described the support she received from her KPMG scholarship as “immense.”

“I would recommend KPMG to anyone planning to pursue a career in Accounting,” she said.

“I have completed my summer internship in the Tax department and decided to keep it on for my next summer internship as I enjoyed it immensely and met a lot of people such as my mentor, buddy and the various graduates who guided me along the way and informed me of all the opportunities available.”

Applications are open from now until Friday 24 June 2022, with interviews planned to take place in August.

Applicants must be from Northern Ireland and must have obtained a conditional offer for a course in Queen’s Management School. They must also have a minimum of AAB in their A-Levels (or equivalent) or have completed the Pathway Opportunity Programme at Queen’s University Belfast.

At the interview stage, KPMG and Queen’s will be looking for applicants who demonstrate good business acumen, who have a desire to learn from the scholarship opportunity and who are clearly ambitious and motivated.
