Ted Maxwell (died June 25, 2018, aged 86)

In loving memory of Ted Maxwell  

Thomas Brown Maxwell was born on 22 June 1932 and passed away on June 25, 2018 in London, Ontario, aged 86.

Ted was a graduate in Mathematics from Queen’s University Belfast in 1955.

He was an Aerodynamicist with Aeroplan in Toronto, Ontario, Canada for a short time before joining the Toronto Board of Education in 1956. Shortly after teaching Mathematics in the Toronto system he was invited to move to Barrie, Ontario, where he joined the Simcoe Board of Education. In 1957 Ted married Nell Maxwell of Belfast, who had also immigrated to Canada. Within the next five years they were blessed with two children Heather Manax and Beverly Boyd.

They were married in a double wedding with Alex and Nell Shamas. It was after this wedding that Nell and Ted were invited to teach in Barrie. Ted was hired to teach at Barrie North Collegiate, however, he moved every two years from the North Collegiate School to two other Secondary schools.

Ted was so highly regarded that after 6 years he was invited to become the youngest Mathematics inspector working with the Ontario Government. He moved into several positions for both the Simcoe Board system overseeing a multitude of provincial schools and was employed by the Simcoe Board for many years until his retirement.

Following his retirement, Ted founded a Christian ministry for men known as Men Alive, working alongside with his wife Nell Maxwell, who had also founded a national ministry known as Women Alive. They worked together for many years until Ted’s demise in June 2018. Together they were involved in many Christian organizations within the Presbyterian Church throughout their lifetime.
